Mercy Day Message from West Midwest Community Leadership TeamMercy Day - September 24, 2012 The celebration of Mercy Day on September 24 each year by the Sisters of Mercy is a dual moment of rejoicing. For many years the Church has celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Mercy on September 24. The Sisters of Mercy are dedicated to Our Lady of Mercy in This was a house of welcome for Catherine in several ways. Catherine was eager to welcome girls and young women in need of safe housing and education to live in this house and receive instruction. This had been a goal that motivated her to use her inheritance to build the House of Mercy. Catherine also welcomed young women to join her in the work of Mercy. It was a work that could best be done in collaboration with others because of its scope and because the support of others in community and prayer would root them in God, the source of Mercy. |

Sister Margaret Quinn is pastoral assistant and music director at Saint Louis Church in Englewood, Colo. A former elementary and high school teacher, she also served as chaplain at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael, Calif. She moved to Denver in 1985 where her love of music and liturgy became the focus of her ministry.
